The highly anticipated film Sankranthiki Vasthunam has been released on OTT, coinciding with its television premiere. However, audiences were surprised to find that the film’s runtime had been shortened. While the theatrical version had a duration of 2 hours and 24 minutes, the ZEE5 OTT release has been trimmed to 2 hours and 16 minutes, raising questions among viewers.
Speculation was rife on social media that director Anil Ravipudi had removed certain comedy sequences from the theatrical version due to runtime constraints but was expected to restore them for the OTT release. Reports suggested that additional comedy scenes featuring Meenakshi Chaudhary and Venkatesh in the flashback portion would be included. However, contrary to these expectations, the OTT version appears to have undergone further edits, cutting nearly eight minutes of footage instead.
While it is common for films to have extended versions on OTT, Sankranthiki Vasthunam has deviated from the trend by reducing its runtime. Fans are now keen to see if the film’s team will issue an official clarification regarding these edits. Starring Venkatesh, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Meenakshi Chaudhary in key roles, the film has been a major box office success, grossing over ₹300 crore.
