The land that has been in the revenue records for centuries as a ‘Kharij Khata’ has suddenly become a patta land overnight! Extremely valuable 12 acres of government land worth Rs. 360 crores has been registered in the names of the MLA Arekapudi Gandhi’s wife and children.

It is believed that this was gifted to the MLA by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for shifting his loyalties from BRS to Congress.

Currently, a square yard there is being sold for Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 90,000. Such land was acquired by Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi. I

In the Gajularamaram village limits of Quthbullapur mandal, 12 acres of land were registered in the names of Arikapudi Gandhi’s wife Shyamala Devi, daughter Nandita, and brothers Arikapudi Koteswar Rao, Arikapudi Rajendra Prasad, and Swarnakumari. Locals alleged that another 30 acres have been illegally encroached. The total value of the land is likely to be Rs. 1000 crores.

The lands in survey number 307 in the Gajularamaram village revenue limits.. According to the 1955 Setwar they are Makta Inam lands. Darugahi Begam Saheba was the Inam for those lands. A total of 441.32 acres. After the Inam Abolition Act came into force, all these lands went into government control from July 20, 1955.

Since then, they have continued to be government land in the revenue records. After the Land Ceiling Act came into force, the then government in 1977 identified these as Khareej Khata i.e. ceiling surplus. Out of this, 317.06 acres of land were subdivided under survey number 307/1.

In 2007, the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy issued orders granting 272 acres, including 238 acres of this land and 33.11 acres of adjacent survey number 303, on lease to the State Finance Corporation (SFC) for 99 years. Apart from this, the government had given another 79 acres on lease for stone crushers.

Some more land was taken by Narasimha Reddy and some others together with ORC. MLA Gandhi had his eye on the land leased to the State Finance Corporation and Stone Crushers. He also complained that the SFC officials did not install any fencing around their land.

The MLA had first sent his followers to these lands. He seized and took possession of about 42 acres. It is learnt that he obtained documents with old dates, obtained land sale documents from the leased crushers and got them notarized. Based on these, he made eight registrations in the names of his wife, child and brothers between December 18, 2022 and June 16, 2023.
