The magnum opus of the visionary director SS Rajamouli, Rise Roar Revolt (RRR) has completed one year since its release and it has achieved a lot more than what was expected and imagined. A peek into its achievement as follows:
When RRR was released, the movie did get a blockbuster talk right from the overseas premiers followed by the local theaters. The fans of both the heroes along with regular moviegoers were in awe at the visuals they witnessed right from songs to the fights. Rajamouli used every department in his hand to their best and produced a mind-boggling patriotic action entertainer. However, the movie which was made with a budget of over 400 crores managed to collect 1200 crores. It is indeed in the top five highest grosser of India but it didn’t match the box office revenues of Rajamouli’s previous outing Baahubali-2 thereby ending its theatrical run.
The real twist in the tale happened when the OTTs started streaming the movie as the internet giant Netflix got the Hindi version while Zee got the South Indian regional languages. The movie reached out wide via OTTs to an extent that stalwarts of World Cinema like Steven Speilberg and James Cameron appreciated the movie and directorial skills of Rajamouli like anything. The makers made a release in Japan in which the movie ended up as the top nonlocal grosser by setting a new record and re-releasing in the USA belt where many sprung to the theaters increasing the sleeper revenue from 1200 to 1400 plus crores.
The worldwide craze has led to multiple nominations for many prestigious awards but the world turned its head when the song ‘Natu Natu’ got the Golden Globe. The craze of RRR didn’t stop there as it also fetched the evergreen dream of ‘Oscar’ for the same song ‘Natu Natu’ honoring Telugu and the whole Indian Fraternity. Since it’s been one year since its release, the movie went from a not-so-on-par achievement to being the most celebrated movie in India within the past year. On this occasion, let us wish the entire cast and crew of RRR who contributed their best in whatever form to make it what it has become as of today.
