It has been learned that a rowdy sheet has been opened on Saturday at Macherla town police station against former YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and his brother Venkatarami Reddy, who are known as Pinnelli Brothers, who committed anarchy and irregularities and created chaos during the general elections in Palnadu district.
On the day of the election, the EVM was vandalized at Palvaigate in Rentachintala mandal. TDP agent Nambur Seshagiri Rao was attacked. The next day in Karampudi, hundreds of rioters roamed the roads chasing them. People were terrorized. Cases have been registered against the Pinnelli brothers and the YCP goons involved in these incidents under various sections of attempted murder.
In this background, it is known that the rowdy sheets were opened on the orders of the higher police officers. But Macherla town police are refusing to give information on this matter. A video of Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy vandalizing the EVM at Palvaigate polling station in Rentachintala mandal on the polling day has gone viral.
This video has turned to be notorious at the national level, which prompted the Election Commission of India (ECI) to respond with immediate and serious action. Even the Supreme Court of India also stunned with this video and questioned Pinnelle’s lawyers, when they approached for anticipatory bail.
The Apex Court did not allow Pinnelli brothers to go to Machar’s constituency on the day of counting of votes. The court clearly told the YCP leader not to go to the surrounding areas where counting will take place. Pinnelli approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in four other cases including EVM destruction.
The court, which granted protection to Pinnelli till June 20 in these cases, adjourned the hearing of the anticipatory bail petitions to the 20th. Since 2004, the Pinnelli family has been ruling Macherla constituency and preventing political opponents, even from within their own party, from rising.
In 2004 Pinnelli Lakshmareddy won as MLA from Congress. In 2009, Ramakrishna Reddy from his family, became an MLA from the Congress for the first time as Lakshmar Reddy’s successor. Ramakrishna Reddy, who won from YSRCP in 2012 by-elections, won from here in 2014 and 2019 elections also.
He has won as MLA four times in a row. However, with the firm handling of the situation in Macherla after the ECI transferred both SP and Collector, who were allegedly colluded with Pinneli brothers, the scene completely changed. TDP candidate Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy from Machar has won over Pinnelli with a majority of more than 33 thousand votes.
Nara Lokesh tweeted on January 29 this year that a wild kingdom is running in Palnadu area. He alleged that some policemen in the constituency have turned into Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy’s private army. Lokesh lashed out at the police for committing genocide against the weaker sections.
