Superstar Rajinikanth’s next project, tentatively titled “Thalaivar 171,” is set to be a production by Sun Pictures, marking his first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the success of “Vettaiyan.” Lokesh recently announced that filming for “Thalaivar 171” will commence in June 2024, with Sun Pictures planning to unveil an intriguing teaser to kickstart the movie’s journey.
The announcement was accompanied by a captivating poster featuring Rajinikanth bound with chains of watches, hinting at the theme of time being a significant element in the film. Sun Pictures confirmed the teaser’s release date as April 22nd with a social media post, further building anticipation among fans.
According to sources in Tamil cinema circles, pre-production work for “Thalaivar 171” is underway, with filming expected to span around one and a half years. Following the completion of this project, Lokesh Kanagaraj is slated to begin work on “Kaithi 2” with actor Karthi.
Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose music for “Thalaivar 171,” adding another layer of excitement for fans. While details about the cast and crew are yet to be officially confirmed, Lokesh has clarified that the film will stand on its own, separate from his Lokesh Kanagaraj Universe (LCU), which includes films like “Kaithi,” “Vikram,” “Leo,” and the upcoming “Kaithi 2.”
