Assam: Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress workers, held a sit-in protest in Assam’s Nagaon after being allegedly prevented from visiting Batadrava Than, the birthplace of social reformer Srimanta Sankardeva. Despite having the necessary permissions, Rahul Gandhi claimed he was denied entry beyond Haiboragaon, about 20 km from the temple. Expressing disappointment, he questioned the inconsistency, noting that while others were allowed during a law and order crisis, he faced restrictions.
Rahul Gandhi highlighted the importance of paying respects to Srimanta Sankardeva and asserted his intention to visit Batadrava Than when given the opportunity. The incident raised concerns about political tensions and access restrictions during Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Gandhi emphasized the need to follow Sankardeva’s path and expressed disappointment at being barred from visiting the shrine.
