Whenever a movie flops at the box office, most leading actors express their solidarity with the producers by lowering their charges. In some instances, they go beyond that and refund some amount of their fee to mitigate the losses. Though this is not obligatory, it says much about the actor’s devotion to the project’s success and to the health of the producers. Superstar Krishna, who is also referred to as the ‘savior’ of producers, has been known to return his full fee when a film failed. This act of chivalry has fetched him huge respect, and even now, there are a number of actors who still adhere to this practice.
Prabhas, who is known for his altruism, is said to be following Krishna’s footsteps. This was said by a Tamil distributor who has on a generous act by Prabhas regarding Radhe Shyam. The film Radhe Shyam which was directed by Radha Krishna Kumar did not perform well at the box office and led to major financial loss for the producers. It is said that Prabhas who was paid ₹100 crores for the film sent ₹50 crores back to the producers and directed that they split the money among all the distributors so they could mitigate their loss.
This revelation came through a distributor’s statement, although the producers have yet to confirm the details. Since his blockbuster success with Baahubali, Prabhas has been involved in large-scale pan-India projects with hefty budgets, which come with both enormous rewards and significant risks. While these films can bring in massive profits, a flop can also lead to considerable losses. Recently, there have been discussions around the box office underperformance of a few high-budget films from other stars, which haven’t lived up to expectations.
At this moment in time, Prabhas has two of the most sought-after films, Raja Saab and Fauji, which are ongoing productions. The industry and everyone are eagerly waiting to see how they will perform over the coming months.
