In a major judicial breakthrough, Telangana High Court has temporarily stayed the probe into the contentious phone tapping case, providing big relief to former minister and BRS leader Harish Rao and Radha Kishan Rao. The court has ordered Panjagutta police not to take any further steps until the next hearing.
The case originated out of a complaint lodged by real estate businessman from Siddipet, Chakradhar, which resulted in an FIR being lodged against various people, including Harish Rao and Radha Kishan Rao. The police had earlier arrested Harish Rao’s personal assistant as part of the inquiry, racking up the affair.
Both the leaders challenged the FIR and appealed to the High Court for dismissal. Interestingly enough, the court had previously ordered interim protection from arrest.
In the meantime, the Telangana government has also appointed senior advocate Siddharth Luthra to argue its case. But since he had some other commitments, the legal team sought more time. Considering the request, the High Court has now fixed the next hearing on March 3.
