People-Friendly Sub-Registrar offices In AP Hereafter

Sunday, December 22, 2024

The AP government has taken some steps to make the sub-registrar offices more people-friendly henceforth putting an end to royalties. The registration department will take decisions to validate the system of sub-registrars sitting like judges in courts.

In this regard, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad and Revenue Special Chief Secretary RP Sisodia and Minister Anagani Satya Prasad have made proposals to the government on changing the shape of sub-registrar offices.

Besides lowering the height of the chair on which the sub-registrars sit, it also ordered that the podium in front of them should be raised. In Sub-Registrar offices across the state, the podium in front of the Sub-Registrar is made of wood. It is surrounded by a red cloth.

The sub-registrar’s chair is slightly higher than the floor surrounding the table in front of the person. People coming for registration should stand in front of the sub-registrar’s podium above them and complete the registration process. But Sisodia opined that this policy is inhumane and increases the gap between the people and the government.

He issued a memo on Saturday stating that people paying taxes to the government through registrations should be given due respect at the offices of the sub-registrars. The wooden and red cloth podium in front of the Sub-Registrar was immediately ordered to be removed from all offices across the state.

It is stated that the sub-registrar’s chair should also be at the normal flooring height and not at the same height. The sub-registrar was directed to make arrangements so that the people who come for registration can sit and complete the registration process by making sufficient chairs available in front of the sub-registrar.

The sub-registrar was told that nothing should stand between the people except the table. Sisodia directed that if people have to wait, make proper arrangements for them to sit and drink water and coffee/tea if possible.

Recently Sisodia along with Minister Satya Prasad visited the Sub-Registrar offices and inspected. They objected to people standing in front of the sub-registrar for registration and gave directions to this effect. In that memo, it was mentioned that those who are contributing billions of income to the exchequer should get due respect.
