Deputy Chief Minister and minister for forest and environment Pawan Kalyan has ordered an inquiry into the allegations that YCP top leader and close associate of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy’s family encroachment of forest and DKT lands in YSR Kadapa district.
He has directed the Kadapa Collector to submit a report on the forest lands in the Sajjala family estate. Sajjala Estate has been set up in about 200 acres near Sugalibidi village in CKedinne mandal of YSR district, on the lines of Jaganmohan Reddy’s Idupulapaya Estate. Sandeep Reddy, son of Sajjala Diwakar Reddy, brother of Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and their family members have allegedly purchased hundreds of acres of patta lands and DKT lands in benami names.
There are allegations that about 52 acres of the forest lands and DKT lands have been encroached upon in Sugalibidi. There is a campaign that the forest land has been legalized by blocking the officer who served as the Kadapa DFO during the YSRCP regime. The Sajjala Estate lands are fenced and large gates are put up to prevent anyone from entering.
Opposite the main gate, there is a 5-acre 14-cent piece of land in Survey No. 1612. In this, the government handed over a DKT patta of 34 cents per acre in the name of Bukke Devi, the wife of Raja Nayak of Sugalibidi village, and 30 cents per acre in the name of Bukke Muthyalamma in 1993. Since then, the victims have been cultivating mango trees and other agricultural crops in that field.
Raja Nayak had previously complained to Pawan Kalyan that his two and a half acres had been merged with the Sajjala estate and that he had been threatened with death if he spoke out. There are allegations that during the YSRCP regime, many DKT patta lands were merged with the Sajjala estate by obstructing the revenue officials.
Revenue and forest department officials have been conducting a survey on this matter with police forces for the past three days. Kamalapuram MLA Krishna Chaitanya Reddy said that the commoner lands held by the Sajjala family will be liberated.
