Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena party president Pawan Kalyan has decided to shift his focus towards developing his own constituency besides playing a significant role as a key cabinet minister in Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s government. After taking stock of governance and getting to know the roles and responsibilities as a minister holding important portfolios, Pawan is now determined to improve his Pithapuram constituency from where he won as an MLA for the first time in his political career with a resounding mandate.
During his ongoing Delhi trip, Pawan Kalyan met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday and urged him to approve the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (RoB) on the Samaralakota–Uppada Road in Pithapuram Municipality limits. The said RoB is crucial infrastructure to address traffic congestion and improve road connectivity in the area. The Andhra Pradesh government has identified the need for the RoB to replace the Level Crossing No. 431 at Railway Km 640/30-32 on the Samaralakota–Uppada Road in the Pithapuram urban area.
Mr. Kalyan also requested Ashwini Vaishnaw to facilitate stoppage of four important trains at Pithapuram Railway Station so as to help devotees visiting the Sri Padavallabha Swamy Temple. The trains for which halts are being requested include Nanded–Sambalpur Nagavalli Express, Nanded–Visakhapatnam Superfast Express, Visakhapatnam–Sai Nagar Shirdi Express and AP Express (Visakhapatnam–New Delhi) and also requested the Union Minister to introduce a new train service from Latur to Tirupati.
This is the first action from Pawan Kalyan for Pithapuram constituency. He choose to contest from Pithapuram after losing Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka in the previous elections. This time, he secured a thumping majority and entered the assembly for the first time. He will need to concentrate on addressing the local issues of Pithapuram in the next five years and make it a model constituency if he is serious on contesting from the same place in the next term.
