It took six long years for Bollywood and its star heroes & directors to finally shadow Baahubali-2 at the box office as SRK’s recent outing ‘Pathaan’ has bagged hundreds of crores in its run.
Baahubali-2 stunned all by becoming the highest grosser in Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada even as a dubbed version along with its original Telugu version, and became untouchable. Despite huge efforts, no movie ever dared to come nearer to this Rajamouli’s visual spectacle but Pathan however managed to level up its collections after six years of Hindi version. Even though Baahubali-2 topped the charts in all its released regions, each respective industry later crossed it by making wonderful movies. RRR in Telugu, KGF & Kantara in Kannada, and PS-1 in Tamil, etc replaced the Prabhas starrer and showcased their regional movie’s dominance. So trade analysts say that Pathaan saved Bollywood from embarrassment as it would officially cross Baahubali-2’s Hindi version collections but not overall.
Ardent lovers of the Baahubali series, however, draw flak between Pathaan and Baahubali as they have differences in ticket prices as Pathaan saw some hikes in the minimum fare. Also, the footfalls of Baahubali-2’s Hindi version crossed 5 crores of people whereas Pathaan would have a maximum footfall of 3.5 crores in its full run at best. For those who compare these two films, Baahubali-2 wins straight away as it is not a straight Hindi film but Pathaan which is hugely backed by big producers like YRF and distributors did the magic with support.
