Among special invitees to the public meeting, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi relaunched capital Amaravati works, which was held in a grand manner, only former Chief Minister YS mohan Reddy and popular film actor Chiranjeevi were absent. No one expected Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been staying away from government programs since the beginning, to attend the program.
However, Chiranjeevi’s absence is surprising to everyone. Although he made it clear that he has no interest in returning to politics, everyone expected him to attend as his younger brother Pawan Kalyan is the Deputy Chief Minister and has been seen to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent times.
The day before, he participated in the Waves conference with Prime Minister Modi in Mumbai. It may be recalled that the government’s invitation to Chiranjeevi for the capital Amaravati program itself has been met with much criticism on social media. Even though he did not attend this meeting, surprisingly Chiranjeevi even did not express greetings to the event or extended his best wishes anywhere on social media platforms.
In the past, he was seen close to YS Jaganmohan Reddy on many occasions during his tenure as Chief Minister. He supported the proposal of three capitals proposed by Jagan. He also expressed his opinion that land acquisition from farmers for Amaravati was not right. With this, questions appeared on social media as to how such a person could be invited to the Amaravati celebration?
Moreover, he never expressed solidarity with the long struggle of the Amaravati farmers. During Jagan’s regime, it was felt Chiranjeevi had a closer association with the Chief Minister than any one in Tollywood. That is why many believe that Chiranjeevi may have stayed away from the Amaravati program to avoid embarrassment. With this, there is a discussion in political circles that Chiranjeevi did not want to attend the meeting and give rise to controversies.
