Lokesh Kanagaraj Likely to Turn Hero in His Own Directorial Film

Wednesday, May 14, 2025

In cinema, there are many directors who have made a name for themselves by building a good story from behind the camera, building their own identity as a director. Although a couple of all-time great directors have every now and then moved in front of the camera, it’s uncommon to see the young directors today stepping in front of the camera and acting. They prefer working exclusively on their story from behind the camera.

But if the recent rumors from Kollywood are anything to prove, acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj could be gearing up to take a thrilling turn behind the scenes, with the possibility of acting. Sources within the industry reveal that Lokesh is set to make his lead acting debut in a new film—one which he will also direct.

Lokesh, who has made a special niche in Tamil cinema with huge hits such as Kaithi, Master, and Vikram, is also famous for his suspenseful plots and chic filmmaking. If these reports hold water, then it would be a daring new chapter in his already remarkable career.

Reports indicate that the film would most probably go on floors next year, though an official confirmation is still pending. Trade circles are filled with rumors regarding the genre and magnitude of the project, and more so given Lokesh’s ability to produce high-octane crowd-pleasing fare.
