NTR’s ‘Devara’ to face stiff competition

Friday, July 26, 2024

RRR actor NTR’s next pan-India film Devara might need to face heavy competition if it arrives in theatres on October 10th as announced by the team. The Koratala Siva directional was initially supposed to hit the screens on April 5th. The makers locked this date on the very day of the film’s launch. Despite having ample time to wrap up all production activities, the unit failed to get the film ready for Summer release.

Had the film released as per the initial plans, there would have been so many advantages for it at the box office during the Summer season because no other biggie is arriving for the next one month. Now, the team lost a golden opportunity. Moreover, Devara will have to fight with other notable films during the Dussehra festival.

Besides Devara, films like Thandel, OG and NBK109 are aiming for release in a span of few days. All these films are carrying tremendous buzz in trade circles. This means Devara will not be able to get as many screens as expected because of these films. Even if Devara manages to garner a unanimous response, the collections will be impacted due to other releases.

Unfortunately, all others are regional films and Devara is the only pan-India outing. So, it will need to recoup hefty investment through the theatrical market which is going to another cause of concern.

Devara team is wishing that Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 gets postponed from August 15th so that they can prepone the film to that date. But, it is too early to speculate about the change in dates.
