The coalition government has made several political appointments in the last six months since it came to power. It has appointed leaders from three parties as chairmen of several Corporations. A total of three lists have been released on their appointments. More than 80 leaders have been appointed to these positions.
In addition to these, there are hundreds of political activists, who have been appointed as directors in the same Corporations. The government finalizes the salaries and allowances of those appointed as chairman. They receive salaries and allowances from those Corporations to that extent every month.
Two types of G.O.s are issued in connection with these appointments. The First G.O. was issued stating that they have been appointed as chairman of the relevant Corporation. The other G.O. is on their salaries and allowances. The G.O.s for the appointment of the chairmen were issued immediately after the political decision was made.
However, the second GO is not issued so far. As soon as the G.O.s for the appointment were issued, the chairmen took the oath with a bang. They regularly going to offices and participating in meetings. Those appointed to the Sports Authority, Tourism Development Corporation, and Swachh Andhra Corporation are traveling all over the state to monitor the activities of their organizations.
TDP spokesperson Pattabhi, who was appointed to Swachh Andhra, has also visited several neighboring states and inspected how sanitation programs are being carried out there. But since none of them have officially finalized their salaries and allowances and they are currently spending their own money. None of them are able to go to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and ask about their salaries and allowances, as they are hesitant to ask.
At the same time, the salaries and allowances of retired officials appointed to government organizations and others are being finalized and the issuance of GOs has been done in a hurry. However, the GOs related to the nominated positions of political leaders are not being issued. Some officials say that the Chief Minister has to finalize the salary and allowances to which chairman should be given, and he is delaying it due to lack of time.
All these are usually finalized in advance. A chairman complained that the same amount given in the previous TDP government would be enough now, and he did not understand why it was pending. The YSRCP government issued new orders in its last phase and decided to reduce half of the chairman’s salary and pay that amount as salary to the directors.
The chairmen immediately objected and complained that it was not right to give it by cutting their salaries. The government did not heed their argument at that time. Some people believe that those orders also need to be revised, and that is also a reason for the delay. In the end, those who got nominated positions are left as unpaid chairmen for the time being.
