Ex-Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was one of the main men of the YSRCP regime, is now being dragged into controversy in the face of the newly elected coalition government in Andhra Pradesh.
One-time political strongman Vamsi is currently struggling with a range of serious legal troubles. Among them are allegations of the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram, and the abduction of a crucial witness, Satyavardhan, in what is suspected to be an attempt to destroy vital evidence. To add to his troubles, Vamsi is also being investigated in a case of land encroachment, with the police actively investigating all the complaints lodged against him.
As the legal net tightens, Vamsi’s judicial remand has been extended multiple times. In a bid to gain bail in one of the land grab cases, he recently filed a petition before the Andhra Pradesh High Court. However, during the hearing, the government’s legal representative requested more time to respond. As a result, the court adjourned the case by another week, leaving Vamsi to wait even longer for potential relief.
Now, there are three individual cases registered against the former MLA, and numerous PT warrants have been filed by the police. Vamsi has also been interrogated under detention. When requesting bail, he volunteered to fully cooperate in the investigations which were underway.
With the government’s reply still pending, the High Court has decided to reserve its judgment. A final decision on Vamsi’s bail is now expected next week, hinging on the state’s response.
