Education Minister Nara Lokesh said that government junior colleges are being made comparable to private colleges. With this, the results of students in this year’s intermediate exams are excellent like never before.
He said that the pass percentage has increased this year like never before in the last ten years, and this is due to the steps taken by the government to raise the standards in junior colleges.
He said that 47 percent of the students passed in the first year of intermediate exams and 69 percent in the second year exams. He said that in the first year of government junior colleges, Parvathipuram Manyam district secured the first position with 70 percent results, while Visakhapatnam district stood at the last position with 34 percent pass rate.
Lokesh said that in the second year exams, Parvathipuram Manyam district secured the first position with 81 percent results, while Visakhapatnam district stood at the last position with 55 percent pass rate. He said that students have passed at a record level in inter-vocational results compared to the last ten years.
He said that 64 percent passed in the first year of vocational courses in government junior colleges, and 82 percent passed in the second year. After the government took power, free textbooks and notebooks were provided to students under the name of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyarthi Mitra.
The Education Minister said that the Dokka Seethamma mid-day meal scheme has been implemented and the working hours of the colleges have been increased from 9 am to 5 pm. In addition, he said that internal examinations have been conducted and appropriate steps have been taken based on the results of the students by analyzing the performance of the teachers.
Lokesh said that parent-teacher meetings have been organized and progress cards have been given to the students. He said that a take-care system has been established and the responsibility of the learning results and attendance of the students has been entrusted. As a result, he said that the pass percentage in government junior colleges has increased.
In the first year of Intermediate, 4,87,295 students appeared for the exams, and 3,42,979 (70 percent) passed. In the second year, 4,22,030 students appeared for the exams, and 3,51,521 (83 percent) passed.
