Six months into the coalition government’s term in Andhra Pradesh, there has been increasing criticism regarding the delay in fulfilling the “Super Six” promises made during the election campaign. In the recent Cabinet meeting, key discussions revolved around the upcoming schemes for the year, with “Thalliki Vandhanam” and “Rythu Bharosa” prioritized for immediate launch. However, the free bus service for women, one of the promises, will be implemented later. The delay has prompted strong opposition reactions, especially from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which anticipated a quicker rollout of these commitments.
In response to the growing concerns, IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh spoke out during his visit to West Godavari. He attributed the delay to the financial strain left by the previous government, which has necessitated settling long-standing debts. Lokesh explained that the state is grappling with a monthly budget deficit of Rs. 4,000 crore, which has hampered the timely fulfillment of election promises. Despite these challenges, he assured that two of the six promises have already been implemented, with specific dates set for the remaining initiatives.
During his visit to Undi, Kalla, and Bhimavaram, Nara Lokesh participated in several significant development activities. He inaugurated the work at Undi High School, unveiled a bronze statue of Ratan Tata at Pedda Amiram Juvvalapalem Road, and laid the foundation stone for the Pedda Amiram-Undi link road. Additionally, he engaged with students at SRKR Engineering College in Bhimavaram and took part in the college’s Sankranti celebrations.
