Hotshot Tollywood filmmaker Nag Ashwin proved his mettle as a pan-India director when he delivered a 1000 Crore epic blockbuster with Prabhas’ Kalki 2898AD. A bigger challenge lies ahead for the Mahanati director with the sequel as he will need to connect all dots in the ambitious and expansive story of the mythology inspired science fiction thriller.
While Nag Ashwin maintained that he will stick to the sequel without deviating his focus towards another projects, there seems to be a change in his decision as per the ongoing murmurs in the industry circles. Reportedly, the Kalki director is mulling to complete a lady-oriented flick in between as Prabhas is entirely occupied with his other commitments and the starting date of Kalki 2 is uncertain as of now.
Nag Ashwin initially planned to complete both parts of Kalki at a stretch like Rajamouli did with Baahubali. But, the unavailability of Prabhas and other high-profile actors like Amithabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan and Deepika Padukone seems to have deterred his plans.
Sources revealed that Nag Ashwin is in plans to do a female-centric film with Bollywood diva Alia Bhatt. The RRR actress is said to have liked the story narrated by Ashwin and evinced interest to team up with him. As Prabhas is occupied with numerous pan-India projects, Ashwin feels he can wind up a film with Alia and then shift his attention towards Kalki 2.
We need to wait for a few more days to hear anything concrete about this interesting speculation.
