Thursday, September 19, 2024

Civil Supplies minister Nadendla Manohar alleged that massive corruption was committed in the purchase of land and construction of houses for the housing of the poor during the YCP regime. He accused them of looting public money by buying an acre from farmers for one crore rupees and selling it to the government for four to five times more.

He warned that no one who looted public money would be spared and that a thorough investigation would be conducted and those responsible would be punished. He said that as per the promise given by the coalition government in the elections, the financial assistance given to the construction of houses will soon be increased and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken a decision on this.

He participated as the chief guest in the awareness conference organized on the issues of house construction and house plot in Tenali constituency. Before that, he inspected the layouts being built for the poor in Pedaravur, Siripuram and Davulur areas. Beneficiaries were asked about the problems.

He expressed his anger against the authorities for the lack of basic infrastructure in the colonies. “What has been shown in the papers is not in accordance with the actual situation, they are showing that hundreds of crores have been spent but they have not been able to provide infrastructure at least in the colonies”, he said.

“Layouts that have changed like ponds.. The layouts are reminiscent of ponds for light rain. He said that roads, drainage, drinking water, electricity…everything like this is a problem, even though it has been four years since the grants were given, the beneficiaries still do not know the location of the land allotted to them”, he added.

Manohar alleged that the contractors cheated some beneficiaries by taking money to build houses and the incomplete constructions are becoming a hindrance for anti-social activities. 78 acres… Rs. 399 crore?

Nadendla said that 78 acres of land was bought in Pedaravuru for construction of houses for the poor, and an acre was bought from farmers for Rs.90 lakhs to one crore rupees, but sold to the government for Rs.399 crores. Nadendla said that about Rs.300 crores of public money has been stolen here in one place.

He deplored that 9735 houses have been sanctioned to the beneficiaries in Siripuram Layout, 3338 houses were to be built in the first phase, but only 250 houses have been built so far and only three families are living there. He said that 356 houses were sanctioned in Davuluri layout but only 86 houses were completed.
