YSR’s daughter and YSRTP’s President, YS Sharmila is all set to pursue her political career with the help of the Congress party in Telangana. If the ongoing reports are anything to go by, then this sister of AP CM Jagan would merge her party into Congress and become an MLA or MP.
Sharmila floated her party with a huge aspiration of forming a government in Telangana but none of the so-called big leaders of the state joined her party leaving YSRTP high and dry. In this regard, Sharmila has no other option but to choose any existing party and only Congress seems to be an option. Earlier there were speculations that Sharmila will be sent to the Upper House with the help of the Karnataka Government but the talks failed since Sharmila demanded MLA seats in Telangana. However, the senior leader of KVP welcomed her into the party if she liked the merger conditions. To give more strength to these rumors, Rahul Gandhi who never paid attention to YSR has recently wished the late leader on Twitter, and Sharmila thanked Rahul Gandhi. Needless to say, this new friendship which never occurred in the last 13 years post YSR’s death itself is an indication of the merger.
Earlier Sharmila demanded a total of 15 MLA seats with 5 just in Khammam district itself but the TPCC headed by Revanth didn’t agree to it and only offered one MP seat, that too from Karnataka. The merger is likely to happen anytime soon since the general elections of Telangana would commence in 2023’s December.
