Review:
The film gets off to a light-hearted start, full of comedic moments centering on the wedding scenes of the first half, immediately putting the audience into an entertaining mood. With much laugh-out-loud action and an excellent balance of drama and comedy, the film appeals very much to younger audiences.
The performances of the lead actors—Narne Nithiin, Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin, and Vishnu Oi—are absolutely impressive. Sangeeth Shobhan’s natural charm and spontaneous acting make him the best one among them, and Narne Nithiin is impressive with his interesting screen presence. Vishnu Oi and Ram Nithin lend life to their roles with impeccable comic timing and inject a bright energy into the story. Supporting actors Satyam Rajesh, Muralidhar Goud, and Raghu Babu ensure that the humor does not lose its steam with their fun performances.
The narrative is about friends trying to stay on top of a series of chaotic and untidy situations. From wedding incidents to unexpected situations in Goa, the narrative abounds with shocks. Priyanka Jawalkar, cast as the leading lady, provides a performance for the ages, striking a chord between her sexy looks and acceptable acting prowess. The director has shaped the protagonists well, deploying them to execute the narrative through emotional intensity and comedy. An unexpected turn at the climax contributes to the suspense, keeping the audience interested.
Director Kalyan Shankar seamlessly weaves together colorful characters and interesting storylines, giving a movie that guarantees laughter and entertainment. The first half is energetic and full of humor, but the second half lags in some parts, with some sequences becoming repetitive and predictable. Some comedy scenes may be familiar to hardcore cinemagoers, which may affect the overall newness of the film to some extent.
All the same, the film is able to dish out a whole lot of laughs, entertaining audiences throughout. Even without a strong, central plot, its focus on humor and light entertainment makes it a pleasant film to watch for most.
Technically, the film impresses in a number of spheres. Bheems’ soundtrack adds to the experience with some foot-tapping tracks that nicely match the flavor of the movie. Shamdat’s camera captures the visuals quite nicely, incorporating a rich sensory appeal. The editing is neat, and the dialogues are interesting, which makes the storyline flow well.
Though Kalyan Shankar does not venture into new themes, he manages to craft a young entertainer replete with humor and fun-filled moments. Mad Square lives on its comic timing, interesting characters, and energetic performances, making it a joy to watch for those seeking a feel-good film.
In spite of some slow moments and some predictable aspects in the second half, the movie leaves its viewers smiling and entertained. It resonates well with the audience, providing a good dose of laughter and light-hearted fun.
