Amaavati: Anganwadi workers and helpers in Andhra Pradesh have initiated a strike, prompting a stern warning from government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Addressing the media at the Tadepalli camp office on Monday, he cautioned against dragging the situation further, emphasizing that strict action would be taken. Initially, officials and a group of ministers engaged in discussions with the Anganwadi workers. Recently, warnings involving the use of the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) and the issuance of a GO were conveyed.

He added that audio messages in their groups hinted at a potential political agenda, with statements suggesting a threat to bring down the government if their demands were not met. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy revealed that there are approximately one lakh anganwadi workers, and expressed concern over the political undertones in their messages. The videos indicated a stance that the government should address immediate issues, but the response conveyed was that such matters would be considered in the next government. Stressing the importance of these anganwadis, which serve countless women, children, and pregnant women, Sajjala acknowledged that the government must explore alternatives at a certain juncture.
