MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha urged the State government to swiftly install a statue of social reformer Jyotirao Phule on the Assembly premises, noting that his Jayanti (birth anniversary) is approaching within 100 days. Speaking at a roundtable meeting organized by Bharath Jagruthi and United Phule Front, Kavitha highlighted the absence of a recent caste census since 1931 and called for immediate action to conduct one for Backward Classes (BC). She criticized the Congress government for withholding the 1996 caste census report and questioned its commitment to BC upliftment, urging Rahul Gandhi to disclose the number of BC judges in the judicial system.

Pointing out Phule’s statue at the Parliament in Delhi, Kavitha advocated for a similar installation at the Assembly premises. She demanded that local body elections be held after finalizing reservations based on the caste census and criticized the budget allocation of ₹8,000 crore for BC development, falling short of the promised ₹20,000 crore. Kavitha also sought clarification from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding the proposed Most Backward Classes (MBC) Welfare department.
