KTR welcomes SC verdict on Defections, confident By-polls In 3 Months

Friday, December 5, 2025

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the disqualifications petition of MLAs, who defected into another party in Telangana. Responding over the verdict through social media platform X, he thanked the Chief Justice of India for saving democracy.

KTR also thanked the BRS lakhs of workers who stood by the party during difficult times even though 10 MLAs elected on behalf of the party succumbed to temptation and changed parties.

He praised the lakhs of workers who have been supporting the party for the past 20 months, exposing the crooked, undemocratic and corrupt politics being done by the Revanth government. He said that they expect by-elections to be held in 10 constituencies in the next three months with the Supreme Court verdict.

He announced that the party is ready for the by-elections. KTR called on the workers to work for victory in the by-elections. It may be recalled that the Supreme Court directed the Assembly Speaker to decide on those disqualification petitions within three months.

Meanwhile, KTR said that he hopes Congress supreme leader Rahul Gandhi, who had advocated strengthening anti-defection laws and automatic cancellation of defection in his Panch Nyay, will welcome this decision. ‘Mr. Gandhi, I am telling you to stick to your own instructions’, KTR said.

He said that Rahul Gandhi has got an opportunity to question the opportunistic attitude of the Congress, which is acting as if there is a policy for the state, one policy when in opposition and another when in government, and prove that he has a backbone.

KTR advised Rahul Gandhi that it is not enough to go around reciting democratic slogans with the Constitution in his hand and reject the defection practices followed by the Congress in Telangana. He warned that otherwise, Rahul Gandhi will remain a historical figure.

He thanked the legal team that made effective arguments on behalf of BRS for the Supreme Court’s verdict, which will remain a milestone in the country’s democratic history. Satyameva Jayate.. Jai KCR! Jai Telangana! KTR shouted.
