BRS Executive President and former Minister K.T. Rama Rao, commonly referred to as KTR, outrightly dismissed the charges levelled against him saying they are all politically motivated and without a factual base. And while that might have been coming his way, KTR, while addressing the media, stressed on commitment to legal procedures and vowed full cooperation with ACB and believed the case against him will collapse.
Addressing the media at his residence in Nandhinagar, Hyderabad, KTR said, “The case against me is a fabricated one, driven by political vendettas. Even though I know it is false, I have adhered to the law and attended the ACB inquiry. As an Indian citizen, I have the constitutional right to challenge these unjust charges, and that is why I appeared with my lawyers and waited for 40 minutes for the inquiry. I have also filed a petition in the High Court to challenge the FIR. After the High Court dismissed my petition, Congress leaders celebrated as if I had been convicted. However, I have filed a petition in the Supreme Court and I will continue to fight for justice.
KTR also responded to suggestions that he should appear for the inquiry without legal representation, stating, “They want me to go without lawyers, but I will continue to fight these allegations with the help of my legal team. If the High Court permits, I will attend the ACB inquiry with my lawyers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I am simply seeking legal protection against these baseless charges. Some ministers are acting like judges and passing judgments without any legal authority. Investigations should take place in the courts, not in ministerial offices or the secretariat.”
In response to the Formula E case, KTR clarified, “There was no corruption involved in the Formula E race. Our goal has always been to showcase Telangana on the global stage, not to gain personal benefits.”
KTR concluded, “On January 9, I am ready to attend the inquiry with my lawyers if permitted. I will also participate in the ED inquiry on January 16. I have done nothing wrong and I am fully prepared for any investigation. I have complete faith in the Indian judicial system, and in the end, justice will prevail.”
KTR challenged Revanth Reddy, stating, “Revanth Reddy is known for creating distractions and chaos through deceit. While they focus on issues like the Formula E race, we are focusing on the real concerns, such as the welfare of farmers. If Revanth Reddy has the courage, he should engage in a discussion on this matter.”
