In a significant development, the Telangana High Court has extended the protection from arrest granted to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, related to the Formula E-Car race case. A hearing on his petition, where he sought quashing of allegations against him, had resulted in this reprieve.
The ACB, in its counter petition, sought the lifting of the stay order on KTR’s arrest. The court, after considering both the arguments, decided to uphold the protective order and further adjourned the next hearing to January 31, 2025.
The case revolves around allegations of irregularities linked to the Formula E-Car race event held in Hyderabad. These accusations have triggered a high-profile investigation led by the ACB. With the High Court’s interim relief, KTR remains protected from arrest, allowing the legal process and probe to continue without immediate consequences.
This has been a raging topic in the political world of Telangana, owing to its importance in leading the state, and more so, as the very implications of such a probe by the ACB give it much mileage in this regard. The court judgments, in a way, now assume a bigger role in giving this saga a new twist, going by the subsequent hearing session.
