The IT Minister of Telangana made potshots at the central government regarding their additional taxes and demanded they reduce their taxes to give fuel at lesser prices.
The Oil and Natural gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri the other day blamed the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar for not reducing the Value Added Taxes (VAT) on petroleum products within the states and asked the respective governments to reduce them as the prices are exuberant. Responding sharply to this, the BRS working president KTR took his Twitter to slam the center and its leaders by in turn asking them to reduce their CESS on fuel. CESS is an Additional Tax for the Collection of Specific Purposes levied by the central government until they get sufficient funds. Rama Rao pointed out the cess tax that due to that Telangana losing 40% of its rightful income they should get from state taxes.
On this note, the Minister of urban development of Telangana, Mr. Rao declared that Telangana didn’t increase its VAT since 2014 and demanded the Central Ministry of Oil to immediately level down CESS so that other states like Telangana would provide petrol and diesel for 70 and 60 rs.
