Minister Konda Surekha’s comments about Naga Chaitanya-Samantha’s divorce caused a stir. As Samantha- Akkineni’s families took the Minister’s attitude seriously, she went back a step and extended an apology to them stating she is withdrawing her comments. However, she made clear that this is not the case with KTR and asserted that she would not leave until KTR apologized to her.
Konda Surekha that she had to use harsh comments because of provocative comments. She said that he has no personal hatred or anger against anyone and the name of a family (Akkineni family) came accidentally. She said that she was very sad when the family felt bad. She made it clear that she retracted the comments as she was suffering so that no one else would suffer.
On this occasion, Minister Konda Surekha said, ‘I take back my comments that the pain and shame caused by me should not fall on someone else. There is no way around KTR, he has to apologize to me. It is as if KTR did everything he did and shouted like a thief is a thief. We will proceed legally on KTR’s legal notice”.
Meanwhile, Chief Mahesh Goud called Minister Konda Surekha and asked for an explanation about the row over the phone and about her controversial comments. Konda Surekha was advised by Mahesh Goud to give an explanation. She said that she had bursted out of pain after the former minister KTR spoke in a provocative manner.
“I talked about KTR’s character, his previous programs and his low opinion of women. When KTR spoke in a way that provoked me, I got emotional and felt the need to criticize him”, she added. However, the backlash generated after her unusual comments seems to be unable to lay down as emerged as a weapon to the opposition.
Film actress and BJP women leader Kushboo Sundar strongly objected to Minister Konda Surekha’s comments. “Surekha, what happened to your values? You in a responsible position should not make horrible and derogatory statements about the film industry. The film industry will not stand by if baseless allegations are made. Surekha should apologize to the women of the film industry,” demanded Kushboo Sundar.
