Expressing impatience over delay in Telangana cabinet expansion, in which he is expecting a minister berth, Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy accused that senior party leader and former minister K Jana Reddy is creating hurdles for him.
Directly mentioning the name of Jana Reddy, he alleged that some people are deliberately preventing him from getting a ministerial post in the cabinet expansion. He suggested that the high command should ignore those who act in a way that hurts the party. He made it clear that he is sure of a ministerial post and the Congress high command has assured him to that extent.
Rajagopal Reddy severely criticized senior leader Jana Reddy accusing that those who should act like Dharmaraj are acting like Dhritarashtra. He satirized that Jana Reddy, who had served as a minister for 30 years, had just now remembered the need to give posts to Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts.
As his elder brother Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is already in the cabinet and some Congress leaders are objecting for inducting two brothers from the same district in the cabinet, he said that it is natural for him to get a ministerial post and asserted he also has the right to get a post.
Moreover, he became angry and said that he is not one to beg for posts, and given the services he has done in the party, he should naturally get a ministerial post. “It did not come by asking, it was my turn to get it fairly,” he clarified. Referring to his contribution to the party, he said that while mostly ministers were made as incharges for each Lok Sabha constituency in last year’s elections, he recalled as an MLA he was made incharge for his Lok Sabha constituency.
While most of the ministers failed to get elected Congress candidates in their respective constituencies, he recalled as an MLA he was able to get elected Congress candidate in his constituency. Did the Congress win in Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, Medak, Karimnagar? And where have all these ministers gone?, he asked.
Rajagopal Reddy made it clear that youth should be encouraged if the Congress party should be strong. He said that if power is given to those who work hard for the party, work with humanity, engage with the people and activists, and have the strength to fight back if necessary, the people will be happy and the party will benefit.
