KCR Slams Congress Government Over ‘Hydraa’ Demolition Drive

Hyderabad: BRS leader and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) strongly criticized the Congress government during the party’s Rajatotsavam celebrations at Elkaturthy. He condemned the establishment of the ‘Hydra’ demolition squad, which has been targeting the homes of the poor, and called on the public and party workers to take action against the ongoing demolitions.
KCR highlighted that bulldozers, once used for tank restoration projects, are now being used to destroy the homes of the underprivileged. “When the poor build huts on government land without realizing it, they are now being demolished by bulldozers under the ‘Hydra’ squad. We cannot remain silent; we must fight this,” KCR stated. He also reminded the audience that the BRS government had previously distributed land records to lakhs of families.
Expressing concern about the state’s regression under the Congress government, KCR remarked, “In the past, Telangana was one of the top-performing states in the country. Under the Congress rule, we have seen it decline. Only two and a half years remain in this term. People must act with strategy, not with anger. We must confront the thorns with more thorns.”
KCR also addressed the worsening financial situation of the state, accusing the Congress government of failing to manage the economy, leading to a decline in land prices. He questioned why the Congress government had failed to complete ongoing projects like Gouravelli and Palamuru, which were near completion under the BRS government.
The former CM criticized the suspension of welfare programs such as KCR Kit and Amma Odi, which aimed to support the poor and pregnant women. “KCR Kit was meant for the poor, and Amma Odi was for maternal care. How can these be stopped? It is clear they are trying to erase KCR’s legacy,” he added. KCR also mentioned that the Aarogyasri healthcare scheme, initiated by YSR, was continued under the BRS government, in contrast to the current government’s approach.
Regarding security operations, KCR called for the immediate cessation of ‘Operation Kagaar’ being conducted by central forces along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. He criticized the use of military force against youth and tribal communities, advocating for peace talks with the Maoists instead.
