Former Chief Minister and BRS chief Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao accused that the Congress party is the number one villain for Telangana. Addressing a massive public meeting  organized in Elkathurthi, Warangal district, on the occasion of BRS Silver Jubilee celebrations, on Sunday evening, he asserted that it was only BRS that changed the fate of Telangana by making it into a developed state.

He recalled that during the Telangana movement, the leaders of the then Congress and TDP kept their lips shut for positions and they had never opened their mouths and fought. “They could not even show the Telangana dream until the pink flag was hoisted. I proudly say that those who sacrificed positions for Telangana in every necessary occasion are the children of BRS. But, those who sacrificed Telangana for positions were the Congress leaders of that time”, he said.

He also lamented that as Chief Minister of the combined state, Chandrababu Naidu had banned the usage of the word Telangana in the Legislative Assembly, which is located in the heart of Hyderabad. He alleged that the ruling was given through the Speaker not to say Telangana, and tried to ban the word Telangana in the Legislative Assembly, considering it a crime.

“You all know the history. When Telangana was named as Hyderabad State, even if the people did not want it, it was the Congress Party and Jawaharlal Nehru who forcibly merged Telangana with Andhra. When the Telangana movement came in 1969, the Indira Gandhi government shot and killed 400 Telangana children like chickens”, he added.

“As  it has been booming since 2001, this same Congress came like a naked elephant seeing our strength and our momentum and tried to convince us they will give Telangana state, but made us cry for 14 years”, KCR said.

KCR said that finally they were forced to give Telangana to withstand the whirlwinds created by TRS, which they did not like. Subsequently, he said “The people gave us power. We did not take it to enjoy power. We took it as a responsibility. During the ten-year BRS rule, Telangana was once a backward region, a region that was ridiculed, a region that was called a corrupt region was transformed into a fortune state”, he said.

KCR asserted that it was they who have increased the per capita income  from Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 3.50 lakh and taken the GSDP to the number one position in the country, besides completion of all the pending projects in Telangana brilliantly.
