Lashing out at the Congress government for politicizing the education sector, BRS MLC K Kavitha asked why the Education Commission set up by the state government is acting like a political commission?
Speaking in a short discussion on the education sector in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, she protested how the Education Commission can comment on the government’s behavior in a way that is wrong?
She wondered how can the Commission say that the education system has been destroyed in the last nine and a half years? If the commission wants to pave a good path for the education of Telangana children, she said that it should mention the history of the last 60 years.
Kavitha said that during the Nizam’s rule, the literacy rate in Telangana was only 4 percent and later also the governments did nothing for the development of education in the Telangana region in the united Andhra Pradesh. She asserted that KCR laid a strong foundation to improve the education system after becoming the CM.
She asked that the Education Commission should point out the flaws in the system, but why make comments like a political commission like this? She deplored that the government that formed the commission did not take those recommendations into consideration at all, as it was clear from the budget proposals.
Kavitha expressed deep concern that while they groomed Gurukul students to secure seats in top educational institutions, the Congress government was sending them to nowhere. She reminded that during the BRS government, Gurukul students secured seats in renowned educational institutions including IITs and IIMs.
She deplored that while they sent thousands of SC, ST, BC and minority children to the renowned Delhi University, the Congress government sent 84 children to death row in 15 months. She suggested that the current government should also consider these factors when spending on education.
She said that if there were 200 Gurukuls at the time of Telangana’s formation, their government increased them to a thousand. Now everyone knows how those Gurukuls have been damaged, she added.
