Byreddy Siddharth Reddy Named YSRCP Youth Wing Working President

Monday, April 21, 2025

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) suffered a significant setback in 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, where its seat tally decreased drastically from stronghold 151 to mere 11. Not only did this drop eliminate the party from its ruling status, but it also left it without the position of prime opposition. The shocking defeat prompted some leaders to leave the party even before the elections, while others distanced themselves after the results were declared. To address the crisis and retain its remaining cadre, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has initiated a series of strategic organizational changes.

In an attempt to increase its strength and revive its presence, the YSRCP has added new posts of leadership, extending beyond traditional posts such as executive president, vice president, and general secretary. The party has now established “working president” posts for its organ sides, a step to give more responsibilities to energetic leaders and enhance their participation in party activities.

Among these nominations, YSRCP Youth Wing has got a new working president. Byreddy Siddharth Reddy, who is the constituency coordinator of Nandikotkur in Nandyal district, has been appointed for this position. The party formally declared this development by issuing a statement from its central office at Tadepalli on Wednesday evening.

Siddharth Reddy had earlier been the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Sports Authority under the YSRCP government. His stint was, however, marred by allegations of financial malpractices in the “Aadudam Andhra” sports scheme involving former Sports Minister R.K. Roja. Despite such controversies, Siddharth Reddy’s recent appointment is a demonstration of the party’s intent to promote young leadership and prepare for the challenges of the future.
