BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that March 8, Women’s day is the deadline to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to fulfil his promises to women. If he does not make an announcement by then on the promises made to women, she threatened to start a movement against the government.
Kavitha expressed her anger that CM Revanth Reddy is not thinking humanely about women and warned that the Congress government should not neglect girl children. Kavitha recalled that Telangana Jagruti had held a dharna in Delhi for the Women’s Bill before Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi spoke.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha warned that if CM Revanth Reddy does not make a clear statement on the implementation of the guarantees by Women’s Day (March 8), 10,000 women will go to 10,000 villages and millions of postcards will be made and sent directly to Sonia Gandhi.
She lamented that the Congress party had no role in the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Parliament. She questioned why the Congress party is not pressuring the central government to implement the Women’s Reservation Act. Kavitha demanded that the Warangal Airport be named after Rani Rudramadevi. She said that they will also write a letter to the center in this regard.
On the other hand, Kavitha said that the Chief Minister’s announcement that he would make one crore women millionaires in Telangana is in no way comparable to the petrol pumps he has started. She said that the schemes proposed by the government are not likely to benefit large-scale, but only for tens of women.
Kavitha demanded that the program of giving Rs. 2500 per month to women be started immediately. Only then will more women benefit, she explained. Kavitha also demanded that the promise of distributing scooties to girls who have completed 18 years of age be implemented immediately.
