It seems that the scam of smuggling ration rice from Kakinada Port is taking an important turn because the Andhra Pradesh coalition government made by TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP has put more efforts in unmasking the villains. It is said that the state administration, which is led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, is making no stone unturned to address this scandal.
The government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by CID Inspector General Vineet Brijlal, to ensure a probe of the case. That SIT has started its inquiry with the available case record and is supposed to give a detailed report to Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad within a deadline.
However, allegations of bias within the SIT have stirred controversy. Concerns have emerged over three team members—Tataparthi Ashokvardhan Reddy, M. Balasundara Rao, and R. Govindarao—due to their prior roles during the YSR Congress Party regime. Critics have questioned their neutrality, leading to calls for their removal.
The current SIT lineup also includes CID SP B. Uma Maheshwar and DSP-ranked officer M. Ratthayya, with Vineet Brijlal spearheading the operation. Yet, the alleged connections of some members to the opposition have prompted Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to consider restructuring the team to uphold its credibility.
Sources indicate that official orders for reconstituting the SIT are imminent, aiming to eliminate any doubts regarding the impartiality of the investigation. The government’s swift action is expected to restore public trust and ensure a transparent inquiry into the high-profile case.
Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation unfolds and the reshuffled SIT begins its work.
