Former CBI JD(U) and Jai Bharat National Party president VV Lakshminarayana has reacted to the post-poll violence in Andhra Pradesh and Chief Minister Jagan’s recent trip abroad. “Maintaining law and order in the state is the responsibility of the chief minister and the cabinet. It is inappropriate for the chief minister to be on a foreign tour during such a critical time,” he stated.
“Following the elections, numerous violent incidents occurred in places like Narasaraopeta, Tadipatri, and Chandragiri. It is disgraceful that political parties are attacking each other. Aside from filing complaints with the Election Commission, have any parties instructed their members to refrain from such activities? Has any party suspended members involved in these incidents? The chief minister has also traveled abroad. During such events, he should be present to review the situation. While the Election Commission oversees elections, it is the duty of the chief minister and his cabinet to manage law and order.
Section 144 is in place, but it is not being enforced properly. On polling day, groups attempted to influence voters, yet there has been little action against them.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) should complete its investigation swiftly and report to the Election Commission. Parties must take appropriate action against those responsible, regardless of their affiliation. Only then will it be evident that the law is upheld in the state. There must be a clear message that everyone is equal before the law,” Lakshminarayana emphasized.
