Senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal, who was at the center of power- Chief Minister’s office during the previous BRS regime, now seems to be landed in trouble. Prof. Jaishankar Agriculture University has said to be prepared the ground for issuing a notice to her with regard to unauthorised utilization of funds.

The audit department of the University has objected to providing funds to her towards a rented vehicle, which was in her procession.  It is reported that Jayashankar Agriculture University has decided to issue notices to Smita Sabharwal in this regard due to objections raised by the audit department.

It is learnt that the university will issue notices to Smita Sabharwal in a day or two asking her to repay the funds taken under vehicle rental. The audit department has objected to the Rs. 61 lakh taken by her towards vehicle rental. Smita Sabharwal took vehicle rental as Additional Secretary of CMO for 90 months between 2016- 2024.

She took Rs. 63,000 per month as rental payment. Professor Jayashankar University has clarified that the audit objection raised on vehicle rental is true. The Vice Chancellor of the university has revealed that action will be taken as per the advice of legal experts.

It is noteworthy that the TS 08 EC 6345 vehicle rented by Smita Sabharwal is not non-tax and does not have a yellow plate. It is a private personal vehicle. The audit investigation revealed that the vehicle was in the name of Pawan Kumar.

It was revealed that the university management paid the money after receiving monthly vehicle rental receipts from Smita Sabharwal’s office in the CMO. The recent AG investigation into the functioning of Professor Jayashankar Agricultural University revealed that some irregularities had taken place.

Vice Chancellor Altas Janaiah said that this matter is true. He said that a comprehensive report on this matter will be submitted to the state government. He said that further action will be taken as per the instructions of government officials and legal experts.
