Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy in his election campaign described this election as a battle between the poor and the rich. Accordingly, recently during his `Memantha Siddam’ tour, introducing many candidates to the public introduced YSRCP candidate for Yemmiganur Assembly Butta Renuka as a poor candidate.
But, while filing her nomination papers, in her affidavit, Renuka declared family assets of Rs 161.21 crore. The former MP declared the assets in the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission while filing a nomination for the May 13 election to the Assembly constituency in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the affidavit, she and her husband Shiva NeelKanth have movable assets of Rs.142.46 crore and immovable assets of Rs.18.75 crore. Their liabilities are to the tune of Rs.7.82 crore. The businesswoman owns automobile dealerships, hotels and educational institutions. She also owns the Butta Convention. Her assets include plots and buildings in the Madhapur and Izzat Nagar areas of Hyderabad.
As per her affidavit, she owns 2,375 grams of gold, diamond necklaces and precious stones. The value of these is just Rs.2.54 crores. And her husband has only 435 grams of gold jewellery. On the other hand, it has been mentioned in the election affidavit that this Butta couple also has valuable shares worth hundreds of crores or rupees.
On the other hand, it is reported that she has also violated IT regulations. As a result, three cases have been registered against her in the Economic Offenses Court in Hyderabad and one in Kurnool. But for YS Jagan she represents `poor’.
