Jagan’s Manifesto Silent On Jobs, Polavaram, Kadapa Steel

Tuesday, November 19, 2024

While the TDP went to the public with the Super Six schemes before the announcement of the elections, the YCP manifesto released on Saturday gave more emphasis on welfare schemes, but was practically silent on development of the state. It is very vague on key infrastructural projects and also critical promises given to people.

Practically it ignored youth employment and job opportunities. There is no mention of 2019 manifesto promises like job calender and Mega DSC recruitment. Although many economic experts have warned that the state will go bankrupt if welfare schemes are implemented with only debts without increasing the wealth of the state, it seems that YCP has given high priority to freebies.

Though CM Jagan claims everytime that the manifesto means the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagavad Gita to him, so why did they not fulfill the promise of prohibition of alcohol, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu wondered.

Key promises of 2019 manifesto like Kadapa Steel Plant, Visakha Railway Zone and agitation going on in Visakhapatnam against privatization of Steel Plant, CM Jagan is completely silent. Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav himself said that it was due to the state government’s negligence in allocating needful land, the center is unable to realise Visakha Railway Zone. But the state government is keeping mum.

In 2019, CM Jagan promised to release the Job Calender on January 1st of every year. Even though the job calendar was released only once in June, more than 60 percent of the jobs were not filled. This time the word job calendar is not included in the manifesto altogether.

Polavaram project is said to be `life line’ for the development of Andhra Pradesh. Already 67.09 percent of work was completed during the TDP regime. According to the latest Polavaram Project Authority dashboard information, it is 71.02 percent completed. It means that in 58 months, the YCP government has achieved only 5 percent progress.

Out of 56,495 displaced families only 12,797 families have been resettled. In the latest manifesto it has been stated that Polavaram will be completed in the next five years. If we look at the progress made during Jagan’s rule in five years, it will be clear that this promise is also a fraud.

CM Jagan promised to build 25 lakhs Pakka houses for all the homeless poor in five years. But in these five years, Jagan’s government built only 5 lakh houses. This means that the dream of owning a home for 20 lakh poor people has not been fulfilled. Jagan is ready to cheat the beneficiaries once again in the next election by promising 32.5 lakh more houses.
