Jagan to drop the idea of three capitals?

Thursday, November 14, 2024

In what may be called a shocking piece of news, the AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is heavily speculated to take a huge U-turn on the YSRCP’s weapon of three capitals. The CM is now keen on fixing one capital according to a local news outlet.

Going into the details, a local newspaper of Nellore, Rythu Zameen reported that the YSRCP head in his recent review meeting with crucial leaders of the state discussed these three capital issues. According to the news, CM Jagan opined that it would be ridiculous on the part of the ruling party to go for elections without fixing the capital so he is keen on making Visakhapatnam the permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh by shifting everything from Amaravati. He also directed all his MLAs and Ministers to stop flexing about the three capitals any further now and concentrate on how to make Vizag, the fixed capital.

If this becomes a reality, it would be a huge positive for the YSRCP Government as the city is apt with a readymade port but on the flip side, Amaravati farmers who gave away all their lands to the government would protest at a huge level as they already have a huge political party TDP and Janasena’s support. One has to wait and see any official declarations from the CM in this regard and how the AP voters receive them.
