Irregular postings and nepotism to those who served his interests became the norm of YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime. Now it is revealed that as many as 50 Armed Reserve constables from different police battalions participated in security duties for Jaganmohan Reddy, during his state-wide padayatra as an opposition leader.
Interestingly, these constables extended services `unofficially’ to YS Jagan, when he was an opposition leader, without any official duty. After Jaganmohan Reddy became Chief Minister, all of them joined duty as security personnel at Tadepalli Palace.
It is reported that Jagan’s wife, who appreciated their services, assured them that they will be sent to the department of their choice. So they all wanted the transport department.
In this context, from the first week to the last week of November 2021, about 50 AR constables were transferred to the Department of Transport. Generally transferring from one branch to another is not easy. But, the then Transport Commissioner and controversial IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, who is known for his proximity with the former chief minister, showed his loyalty by accommodating them into the department.
Around 50 armed reserve police constables across the state have been transferred to the Road Transport Department (RTO) in 2021. Treating each of them as separate cases, the previous government relaxed the rules and gave orders. As Transport Commissioner PCR Anjaneyu gave orders to include all of them in the Transport Department.
Wondering why so many AR constables were transferred to the transport department, when the officials started probing, these irregular postings were exposed. It was found that these `special transfers’ were carried out regardless of rules and procedures. But, the proceedings were kept secret.
In January, 2021 all of them joined the duties of the joint Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor and Nellore districts as well as many transport offices across the state. There are whispers in the department that almost all of those who have been transferred belong to Jagan’s social class and the reason for the special orders.
Presently, as these transfers have been creating uproar in the transport department, it seems all of them are in panic fearing their illegal postings may be taken into task. Already severe accusations are mounted against them of misbehaving and horrible corruption in their respective postings. Now, they are said to be preparing for a long leave of three years in the name of higher education.
