Though several senior party leaders accused Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy was the main reason for creating gulf between the party leaders and YS Jaganmohan Reddy during last five years, emerging as key functionary within the government and also in the party, he is still continuing his clout in the party.
After losing power, Jaganmohan Reddy has announced several new committees and replaced several constituency incharges and district incharges. He has also completely changed committees affiliated to the party. Besides all such changes, the only person in the party continuing his authority seems to be Sajjala.
YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has taken a key decision by appointing Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy as the YSRCP state coordinator. During the last five years, several party key leaders deserted the party accusing Sajjala of creating hurdles for them without meeting party chief Jaganmohan Reddy.
Besides playing a key role in party affairs, as government advisor, he also monitored the Chief Minister’s camp office also. Practically ministers, MLAs, MPs and other leaders do not have direct access with the Chief Minister and they were forced first to meet Sajjala.
There were situations where he would almost reveal the decisions taken by the party as well as the decisions of the government to the media. Opinions was also expressed at that time that he acted as a shadow CM in a way.
In the previous assembly elections, the YSRCP suffered a crushing defeat. It had to be confined to only 11 seats out of 175. There was also a discussion that Sajjala was the main reason for the crushing defeat in this election. The discussion took place in the cadre that he was acting like a wall without meeting party leader Jagan.
There have been many occasions when Jagan’s own party workers as well as his fans have expressed their intolerance against Sajjala on social media platforms. In such circumstances, there was a lot of discussion in the party that Jagan would sideline Sajjala.
However, on the contrary, Jaganmon Reddy once again crowned Sajjala. He was entrusted with key responsibilities in the party. He issued orders assigning him the post of state-level coordinator. Sajjala’s appointment has once again become a topic of discussion in the party.
Along with Sajjala’s appointment, Jagan has also given new responsibilities to some others. Chintada Ravikumar was appointed as the coordinator of the Aamudalavalasa assembly constituency. Former MLA Korumutla Srinivasulu and MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar have been appointed as the party’s state spokespersons. Chunduru Ravi Babu has been appointed as the Ongole Assembly Constituency Coordinator.
