YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been going through a tough phase both politically and personally. While the unprecedented decimation in the 2024 assembly polls destabilized his political career , his family rivalry with sister Sharmila Reddy and mother Vijayamma turned out to be a cause of concern because of the public disgrace he has been subjected to.
As the APCC chief continues to trade barbs for issue in Andhra Pradesh, Jagan seems to have decided to take on her sibling in an unexpected political coup in order to silence her. As per reports, Jagan is planning to welcome a few notable Congress leaders from Rayalaseema into his party very soon. Sake Shailajanath, ex- cabinet minister of united Andhra Pradesh and also former APCC chief, is likely to jump fence from Congress to YSRCP in a few days.
Sources revealed that Shailajanath has been pondering over his political future for quite some time now. He and his supporters felt that only joining YSRCP can revitalize his low lying political career in Rayalaseema region. Hence, he has reportedly initiated talks with Jagan Mohan Reddy to take a decision shortly. In a recent marriage ceremony, both Jagan and Shailajanath Reddy have exchanged pleasantries and further triggered speculations.
Jagan wants to nip Sharmila’s political career in the bud. As Sharmila doesn’t have much recognition in the coastal Andhra and Godavari districts, Jagan decided to target her in the Rayalaseema region where she has got some traction in the last polls. As most of the Congress leaders in Rayalaseema are well acquainted with Jagan Mohan Reddy from the time when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was the Chief Minister, there won’t much difficulty in convincing them to join YSR Congress party.
Jagan wants to check mate her sister with his political stratgems. Starting with Shailajanath, a strong dalit leader and two time MLA from Singanamala constituency, Jagan wants to take away much prominent leaders into his party and give a shock to Sharmila. In the next few days, we will know his plans.
