IPS Sanjay Surrenders Before Court, Sent To Remand

Friday, December 5, 2025

In a major setback for the state police fraternity, a senior IPS officer Sanjay who once held significant influence during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister has now found himself behind bars on corruption charges.

The Supreme Court cancelled his anticipatory bail on July 31 and directed him to surrender in three weeks. After he failed to surrender even after that time had elapsed, people speculated about what he would do next.

On Tuesday, he finally appeared before the ACB Court and surrendered. Although his legal team argued that the apex court had allowed a four-week window, the court still ordered his judicial remand.

This development marks a striking turn of events. The officer, once accused of abusing his power during YS Jagan Reddy’s rule by filing false cases against individuals, now faces prison time himself for alleged corruption and malpractice.

Notably, former DGP PSR Anjaneyulu had also gone through a similar ordeal earlier. He was arrested on corruption charges but later obtained bail on medical grounds. He continues to remain under suspension.
