Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said that after the formation of their government, they are moving ahead with the agenda of development, and they do not believe in `politics of victimization. She made it clear that they are not committing any retaliatory actions or harassment against political opponents, unlike during the previous regime.

Anita visited the AP police headquarters in Mangalagiri for the first time after taking charge as the Home Minister. On this occasion, DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and other senior officers cordially invited the Home Minister by greeting her.

She discussed with the top police officers on key issues like law and order in the state, eradication of ganja, police welfare, vacancies in the police department and protection of women.

Later, speaking to the media she said that the Red Book in the state is not for partisan activities. She said that legal action will be taken against the officials who worked against the rules in the previous government. She deplored that the police system was destroyed during the previous regime.

Anitha said that during the last five years not a single constable job was filled in the state and even unable to complete police academy and greyhound academies despite funding from the centre. A police station in Visakhapatnam district is running in a petal shed, she added.

Home Minister expressed concern that the transportation of ganja has increased in the state and has brought the state to the third place in the national crime records. She said that awareness programs will be organized on eradication of cannabis. She reminded me that a sub-committee has already been formed on this issue.

She said that they will eradicate cannabis with a 100-day plan. She said that the women policemen in the secretariats were taken without any training and discussing the issue of how to use them. Anitha assured that steps will be taken to make police stations people- friendly, where people can easily enter and express their grievances.
