In a major relief to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSR Congress Party and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the High Court has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the renewal of his passport. Justice Konakanti Srinivas Reddy directed the authorities to issue Jagan a fresh passport with a five-year validity. Additionally, the court allowed him to travel to the United Kingdom to attend his daughter’s convocation, scheduled for January 16.
The development comes after Jagan initially approached the Vijayawada Special Court seeking the NOC. However, the special court mandated that he appear in person and provide a ₹20,000 bond as part of the process. Dissatisfied with these stringent conditions, Jagan moved the High Court, challenging the special court’s decision.
Upon reviewing the petition, Justice Srinivas Reddy overturned the conditions imposed by the special court. The High Court granted the NOC without additional stipulations, paving the way for Jagan to renew his passport and make the overseas trip.
