Harish Rao Given call For A struggle To save Sangameshwara And Basaveshwara projects

Friday, April 18, 2025

Alleging that the Congress is weakening the Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara irrigation projects, former Irrigation Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao gave a call to party leaders to a struggle to save these projects. He said that the Congress government will be stymied until those lift irrigation schemes are completed.

He said that KCR’s aspiration of providing irrigation water to 4 lakh acres should be fulfilled with these projects. Harish Rao, who met with the party MLAs, former MLAs and key leaders of Sangareddy district, called on them to take steps in the future to ensure the welfare of farmers.

He called on BRS workers of Zaheerabad, Sangareddy, Narayana Khed and Andol constituencies to mobilize them to agitate for these projects. He deplored that the Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara lift schemes became questionable after the Congress came to power.

MLAs Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Chinta Prabhakar, Manik Rao, former MLAs Bhupal Reddy, DCMS Chairman Shivakumar, ZP former Chairman Jaipal Reddy and other key leaders participated in the meeting. In this meeting, they discussed the upcoming struggle as per the orders of KCR.

They have decided to organise protest programs under the auspices of the BRS party in the designated areas of those projects with the demand for the immediate completion of the Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara projects. Two years ago, on February 21, 2022, the then Chief Minister KCR laid the foundation stone for these projects in Narayankhed.

Even after 14 months of coming to power, the Congress party has not even looked at those projects. ‘‘Two years ago, on February 21, 2022, the then Chief Minister KCR laid the foundation stone for these projects in Narayankhed.

Even after coming to power for 14 months, the Congress party has ignored those projects. Due to this, the irrigation water of the people of NarayanKhed, Andol, Sangareddy and Zaheerabad constituencies of Sangareddy district has become a dream”, Harish Rao said.

With this, he called for a movement to bring pressure on the government for completion of these projects and prepare with an action programme to provide irrigation water to about 4 lakh acres.
