Palnadu region is notorious for its deep-rooted factionalism and political violence for several decades. Village after village have been victims of such political violence and a large number of political activists from either side turned martyrs though MLAs and other senior leaders have been enjoying political clout and also illegal earnings from extorions, illegal mining and other activities.
More particularly, during the YCP regime three assembly constituencies- Macherla, Gurazala and Narasaraopet turned out to be a nightmare for opposition political activists. Thousands of TDP activists have migrated to safer destinations with their family members to escape from hooliganism. Even police remained as silent spectators and acted as YCP `private army’.
With the change of government, TDP has started efforts to ensure peace in this area. More particularly, Gurazala TDP MLA Yerapathineni Srinivasa Rao has given a stunning assurance to YCP cadre in his constituency. He asked them they need not fear any retaliation from his party and they need not leave their houses and villages out of fear.
Moreover, he advised the police to be impartial. If any one complained against TDP activists attacking them, he asserted that they should register cases and take action against TDP workers also. Expressing his strong desire to restore peace in Palnadu, he even asked YCP cadres if they were threatened by any TDP worker, let them directly call his mobile seeking assistance.
He has sent a strong message of peace during TDP workers meeting. The video of his speech is going viral. Within a short time more than a million viewed this video. YCP cadre was shocked with this approach of Gurazala MLA.
He said in the video “I want a peaceful day. Enough of the misdeeds of the YSR Congress government. Such incidents cannot happen again. I told the police the same thing. File cases even if TDP commits attacks. Punish whoever is at fault”.
“I am telling YCP leaders and workers the same thing. No one should leave their villages. Live comfortably with your wife and children. Do your own farming and business. Get your work done. I don’t bother anyone. If any of our people bothers you, call me directly” he added.
His assurance to the ranks of the opposing party that no one should leave the village shook the prevailing political environment in the Palnadu region.
